HistoryAnchor Agency was formed in May of 1960 by Lee Aronowitz, Arthur Kapner, Edward Corts and Marvin Freedman all of whom were associated with an “old line” Albany Agency. The first office was at 75 State Street in downtown Albany where they had one full time employee and a part-time bookkeeper in a 600 square foot office.
They worked hard at building the Agency which necessitated moving to a larger space twice in 75 State Street as our needs and staff required and as we merged several smaller agencies in our business.
In 1988 we needed more space and decided to relocate to Colvin Avenue in Albany where we now own and operate our business from this 6000 square foot building with a 34 car parking lot to accommodate a staff of 23 people.
In 1991 we added a Financial Services Department to our Property and Casualty Insurance business. We brought Patricia Ross who was employed at Aetna Life Insurance Company, into organize and build that department. Pat now is Vice President of our Financial Services Department which currently includes a staff of five people.
We have grown our business each year as our experienced and well trained staff services the Insurance needs of more than 800 businesses and several thousand Personal Insurance accounts.
